Hi! I'm Mr Welsh and I teach agriculture education at J Frank Hillyard along with Mrs Black. I am a native of Keezletown and a product of Spotswood High School and Virginia Tech. I grew up on a small farm and continue to operate our family farm with my family. I enjoy teaching students in ag class and working to enrich their experience in our FFA chapter. My favorite things are farming, old blue jeans, boots, Dr Wham, snickerdoodle cookies and kayaking. In that order.

Agriculture education students will get a well-rounded exposure to all agriculture topics. They will learn how plants and animals are cared for to become the food and fiber items we rely on for life! They'll also learn some basic shop skills in our ag mechanics shop, learn how our interactions with forestry and wildlife affect our world, and have the opportunity to participate in our FFA chapter.

Our students compete annually in various local, regional, statewide, and national Career Development Events (CDEs). They include things like forestry judging and timber-sports. lawn tractor operation, hippology (horses), stockmen (livestock), meats evaluation, poultry, parliamentary procedure, cattle working, tractor driving, public speaking, and more!
