This week is Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week. Thank you to all our teachers and staff who go above and beyond to create a learning environment that is fun and creative and inspires students to do their best. We appreciate all your hard work and dedication so that students can give "All Their Best. All The Time".

Have you ever wanted to help your community but get stuck trying to figure out how?
Come spend a week with us, during the Helping Hands Service Camp, June 10–15, 2024, from 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. at Wilbur Pence Middle School.
This camp will be filled with fun and fulfilling service projects. We will help feed the hungry, make and deliver items to a local animal shelter, build and paint bookshelves for a local service group, and make blankets for people in need (just to name a few). We’ll even host a cleanup at the river, and of course, enjoy a splash or two ourselves! There are so many opportunities, we can’t list them all here, but we can guarantee it will be a great week if you join us!

Character Counts in RCPS! 🌟 Congratulations to Jacob Gilley and Lesly Moreno Hernandez for being selected as the 2024 Brittany Lam- Kelly Coggsdale Character Counts recipients from J.Frank Hillyard Middle School! Jacob is friendly, works well with all students, and is polite and considerate. Lesly is always kind and considerate and goes above and beyond to help other kids.
Many JFHMS students have cell phones and other devices they use with their cell phones, and we want everyone to be on the same page with cell phone/electronic usage. Cell phones are to be turned off and kept in backpacks during the day. Phones should be put away before a student enters the school building, and they should not come back out until students are dismissed. Students who need to contact home may do that in the office. We will even let them use their phones in the office. AirPods (wireless earbuds) are not allowed during the school day. Please ask questions if we can help with your understanding of this policy.
Just as a reminder, the first official day of middle school fall sports will be Monday August 21st. Cross Country practice will be from 3:30-5:00 pm for grades 6-8 and Volleyball tryouts will be from 6:00-8:00 pm for grades 7-8 here at school. Once school begins on Wednesday, Volleyball tryouts/practice will move to 3:30-5:30 pm. All interested participants must have a current VHSL physical on file at the school in order to participate on the first day of practice/tryouts. Please contact the school if you have any questions.
