World Languages

Mrs. Fletcher has been teaching Spanish for 20 years. She is also the head coach for cross country & track at JFHMS and enjoys running herself! She is also the Hawks Heroes advisor and works hard to promote positivity and kindness wherever she goes.

Mrs. Fletcher is married and has two sons who attend J. Frank Hillyard in 6th and 8th grade. She also has 3 dogs. One of her dogs, Roxie, is a trained therapy dog and comes to school with Mrs. Fletcher several days a week. Roxie is a husky mix and also loves to run! Mrs. Fletcher loves to travel and has been to Spain, Costa Rica, the Netherlands, France, New Zealand, and Greece. These trips come in handy as she teaches her World Cultures/Language students in 6th grade.

Mrs. Fletcher loves teaching middle school and can't wait to welcome you into her classroom.

6th Grade - World Cultures & Languages

Students spend nine weeks in this exploratory class. They learn about 6 different countries, including their culture, foods, traditions, and language. Students enjoy trying new foods from around the world and researching their own country to teach their classmates about.

7th Grade - Introduction To Spanish

Students spend a semester in this introductory class learning about the language and culture of the Spanish speaking world. Students speak, read and write in Spanish from day one!

8th Grade - Spanish I

Students spend a full year in this first level of Spanish. Students read, write and speak in Spanish all year long! By the end of the course students will be able to communicate about their interests, hobbies, family, and more. Students work on several projects throughout the year including a Dia de los Muertos ofrenda, a children's book that we read to the students at John C. Myers Elementary School and more. Students are also invited to join the Spanish buddies club as 8th graders.
